Terrible video! Man chokes woman with belt, drags her behind car and rapes her on New York street

The CCTV footage shows the woman walking down the street at night when a man wearing a white face covering sneaks up behind her, throws the loop belt over her head and tightens it around her neck.

The South Bronx community was rocked by a disturbing incident on May 1 when a 45-year-old woman was the victim of a horrific attack. The New York Police Department said the woman was walking near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue around 3 a.m. when a stranger approached her from behind and quickly placed a belt around her neck, knocking her unconscious , before she was sexually abused.

The crime, captured on CCTV footage, shows the woman walking in front of her attacker, who hid his identity with a cloth over his face. The attacker then quickly placed the belt over her head and dragged her across the sidewalk as she gasped for air. Despite her attempts to resist, the woman was overpowered and dragged between two parked cars, where the attack continued to escalate.

After the attack, the man fled toward Melrose Avenue, evading capture and leaving the victim at the scene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. Shockingly, the NYPD suspects that the attacker and the victim may have known each other. And the man was well aware of her daily routine.

The heinous nature of the attack left Bronx Street residents in disbelief, with many expressing shock and outrage upon seeing the harrowing video footage. While the accused remains at large, the community is grappling with fear and insecurity and demanding swift justice and enhanced security measures.

Similar crime in NYC

Just last month, a man waited in a Manhattan apartment building before attacking a 23-year-old woman as she returned home. That man, who has yet to be identified, held the victim in a chokehold before forcing him into a hallway. He is said to have threatened to shoot her if she screamed.

Also last month, a Bronx man forcibly entered a woman’s home and punched her in the face several times before sexually assaulting her. He was identified as 31-year-old Malik Crocker. Jail records show he was not arrested.

NYPD data shows that as of May 5, 511 rapes were reported citywide. The vast majority occurred in the Bronx.
