Police investigate shooting in Maine town

Locals reported hearing gunshots Friday night in the same Lewiston neighborhood where a teenager was killed a few days earlier.

Police are investigating gunfire in Lewiston. Local police officers reported hearing gunfire on Sabattus Street in the Hillview/Rideout neighborhood around 9:40 p.m. Friday. Several residents also called police reporting gunfire coming from the Hillview apartment complex. In the same neighborhood, 17-year-old Sahal Muridi was found dead after reports of gunfire last Sunday. When police arrived, they found at least one vehicle had been struck by a bullet. In a news release issued Saturday morning, officials said they believe no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to email Det. Police are investigating shootings in Lewiston. Local police officers reported hearing gunshots on Sabattus Street in the Hillview/Rideout neighborhood around 9:40 p.m. Friday. Several residents also called police to report gunshots coming from the Hillview apartment complex.

This is the same neighborhood where 17-year-old Sahal Muridi was found dead last Sunday after reports of gunshots.
