Sisters mourn 25-year-old shot and killed in Plantation – NBC 6 South Florida

A man was shot dead in Plantation on Wednesday evening, leaving behind two sisters overwhelmed with grief.

The victim was identified by family as 25-year-old Charles “CJ” Jenkins.

Plantation police have provided little information about who was involved and what exactly happened at an apartment complex near Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 47th Avenue around 8 p.m. They confirmed that a shooting occurred and that all those involved were at the scene Wednesday evening.

They did not say whether there were other victims or what condition they were in.

A neighbor who did not want to give her name said she heard three gunshots and saw one person apparently shot in the chest and another in the leg.

On Thursday morning, police were still combing the area, cordoning off part of the apartment complex and collecting evidence.

“I was a witness. I held his hand,” said a woman who identified herself as the victim’s sister.

“I looked into his eyes while he-” she pauses, becoming emotional.

Jenkins also had a twin, Chopp, who arrived at the scene and said his family hoped for justice.

“I’m going to miss my brother, my twin, my first day, literally, the first day,” she said. “Our birthday is in a few months, really. Now I have to spend it alone.”

The victim’s sisters said he was a family man and the only male in their family. They said he was visiting a friend at the compound when he was shot.

NBC6 is still waiting for word from authorities on whether an arrest has been made, but on the night of the shooting, television crews saw one person being arrested.
