Why the Houston Texans are the ‘trendy’ pick to win the 2024 Super Bowl

The Houston Texans are a team on the rise with second-year quarterback CJ Stroud and a core of young prospects developing into solid playmakers.

That’s why ESPN reporter Bill Barnwell considers them potential Super Bowl contenders for the upcoming season.

“CJ Stroud became an instant superstar in Houston, throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns while being intercepted just five times. He then had a stunning playoff performance against an elite Browns defense, completing 16 of 21 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout victory,” Barnwell wrote.

“The Texans lost to the top-seeded Ravens the following week, but they had already proven themselves to be a formidable opponent in the AFC. After vastly exceeding expectations a year ago before adding key talents such as Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter this offseason, Houston will rightfully draw attention as a potential Super Bowl contender in 2024.”

The Texans will still have to find ways to get past the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, but they are as good a choice as any to dethrone them if someone were to take over. The Texans are young, and the first year of the Stroud era proved that Houston is not far from where it wants and needs to be.

Imagine what will happen now with an improved Stroud after a full offseason and the addition of electric veterans on both sides of the ball.

For the first time in more than a decade, the Texans enter the season with a legitimate chance of reaching the playoffs.
