Route 3 closed in Augusta while state police respond to incident

AUGUSTA, Maine – A section of Route 3 in Augusta was closed Tuesday afternoon while state police responded to an incident.

Shannon Moss, spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release that state police officers arrived at the scene of an incident in Augusta shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tactical teams and crisis negotiation teams were involved in the response.

According to Augusta Police, Route 3 is closed between Churchill Road and Bolton Hill Road. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and avoid the area.
