Man arrested for raping Ukrainian woman on Koh Samui Bangkok Post Learning

Police arrested a man early last week on suspicion of raping a Ukrainian woman on Thongson Beach on Koh Samui.

Police said 27-year-old Nathapong was arrested outside a supermarket in Bo Phut on Koh Samui on Sunday. They also confiscated the motorbike he was using on the day of the alleged crime. The suspect’s full name was not released.

According to Bo Phut police, a 32-year-old Ukrainian tourist said she was raped on Thongson Beach at around 9 a.m. on July 8.

The police showed her surveillance camera footage of the suspect and she identified him as her attacker.

The suspect, from Prachuap Khiri Khan province, reportedly admitted in the arrest warrant issued on Sunday that he was the suspect, but claimed that the woman had given her consent to the act.

The investigation was still ongoing.
