SA Home Affairs teams travel to Houston to assist

SAN ANTONIO — More local aid is on its way to Houston after Hurricane Beryl swept through, downing trees and leaving damage in its wake.

Home Depot crews traveled to Houston Thursday morning to help with the relief effort. A Home Depot spokesperson wouldn’t provide details, but the company has a team that responds to natural disasters.

In 2022, when Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida as a Category 4 storm and left millions of dollars in damage in its wake, The Home Depot was there to help.

The Home Depot Foundation and its associated volunteer group, “Team Depot,” have responded by providing support, resources and relief supplies to these communities. And now, they’re bringing a very similar response to Houston after Beryl.

Dozens of employees from San Antonio, Alamo Heights and Seguin will be deployed from Alamo City. We know they will be there for a week to help in some way.

According to their website, Home Depot has been doing this kind of work since 1992. And not only does their response get people out into the community, but sometimes stores even become command centers for relief efforts.
