Chain reaction accident on I-285 West leaves one dead and five injured

One person was killed and five others injured in a multi-vehicle crash early on the morning of July 8 on I-285 West near Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

Dunwoody Police arrived at the scene at 4:48 a.m. and found six vehicles involved in the incident, which initially resulted in an impact followed by a chain reaction of a second crash.

“Three vehicles were involved in an accident at the above location,” Dunwoody police said in a statement. “A second collision caused a chain reaction involving several other vehicles. One of the drivers involved in the first accident was outside of his vehicle and was struck by other vehicles.”

The driver, whose identity is not yet known, died of his injuries at the scene. According to police, five other people involved in the accident were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
