One person injured in shooting in Galesburg

One person was injured in a shooting in Galesburg.

According to a press release, Galesburg Police responded to a report of a shooting on S. Cherry St. on July 6 at approximately 11:48 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a victim in the street with a gunshot wound. Officers provided life-saving treatment until medical personnel arrived. The victim was identified as Mario Washington, 45. Washington was
to the emergency room at St. Mary’s and then to St. Francis in Peoria. He remains in the hospital and receives
Treatment.


An investigation indicates the incident was the result of an argument between Washington and another individual. There is no evidence of an ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. Galesburg Police were assisted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police.
