Brentwood man Timothy Brown is charged with raping a girl

Timothy Brown, 36, of Vernon Crescent, appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 1) charged with 15 offences, including rape and child abuse.

Brown was charged with suspicion of rape of a girl aged 13, 14 or 15, three counts of arranging the travel of a person for the purpose of exploitation and two counts of enticement of a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 to engage in sexual conduct.

This comes after Essex Police launched an investigation into child sex offences in June 2023.

The 36-year-old was remanded in custody and will appear again at Chelmsford Crown Court on July 29.

He is also accused of the following:

  • Assault on a person resulting in actual bodily harm and two counts of meeting a girl under 16 after grooming.
  • Two cases in which a child between the ages of 13 and 15 was made to view an image of sexual acts.
  • Sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15 years, two counts of manufacturing a controlled Class B drug and taking custody or control of an item knowing it to be a counterfeit banknote.
