Houston Leaders Address Safety, Security Measures for Shell Freedom Over Texas

HOUSTON – With July 4th celebrations fast approaching, Houston city leaders are working to ensure the safety of attendees at this year’s Shell Freedom Over Texas.

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. to detail safety measures for guests. It will be led by Mayor John Whitmire, who will be joined by Houston Police Department Interim Chief Larry Satterwhite and Houston Fire Department Chief Sam Pena.

Thomas Munoz, acting director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security and emergency management coordinator for the Houston Office of Emergency Management (OEM), will also be in attendance, as will Susan Christian, director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events (MOSE).
