2 people arrested during DUI check in Encinitas; 680 vehicles passed through and 27 were stopped for a second investigation

Two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint in Encinitas, authorities said Saturday.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the stop was conducted from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of South Coast Highway 101.

A total of 680 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 27 drivers stopped for a secondary inspection, the department reported.

Three drivers were cited for driving without a license, one driver was cited for driving without a license and two vehicles were towed, police said.
