One man arrested for armed robbery, second suspect at large

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One man was arrested in Cameron Park on charges of aggravated robbery, while another remains at large.

On Tuesday at approximately 9:55 p.m., Cameron County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 2300 block of Magdalena Avenue for a report of an aggravated robbery.


Upon arrival, officers learned that two men had taken the victim’s phone at gunpoint. One of the suspects had put the gun to the victim’s head and demanded his cell phone.

The same suspect then fired his weapon once at the ground in an attempt to intimidate the victim into complying with his demands. Both suspects left the area with the victim’s phone.

The suspects were identified as Juan Carlos Macias, 20, and Brian Rodriguez, 24.

Macias was located near the robbery and arrested by officers. He admitted his involvement in the robbery, was arrested and transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center for arraignment. He remains in custody on $50,000 bail.

The second suspect, Rodriguez, is still on the run. Rodriguez is 5’8″, weighs 130 pounds, and has short black hair. He has the name “Olga” and stars tattooed on his right forearm. His left hand is tattooed, and there is a musical note under his right ear.

Rodriguez is considered armed and dangerous.
