Murder-suicide at the Academy Arms apartment complex in Gloucester County

Two people have died after a murder-suicide at a Gloucester County apartment complex, officials said Wednesday.

Police responded to reports of a shooting around 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Academy Arms complex in Clayton and found the bodies of Nina D. Sinclair-Green, 43, and Anthony J. Williams, 45, in the apartment where they were together had lived. according to a statement from the Gloucester County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said Williams shot Sinclair-Green, who was moving out of the apartment and packing up her belongings.

After shooting Sinclair-Green, Williams also fired a handgun through the apartment’s open front door, hitting a vehicle in an adjacent parking lot where Sinclair-Green’s family members were waiting, according to police. According to police, the woman’s family was on site to help her move, but she was not injured.

According to police, Williams then turned the gun on himself and took his own life inside the apartment.

In the parking lot of the apartment complex Tuesday night, Fox 29 reported an emotional scene with community members and police officers gathered outside.

“That’s the only person I’ve ever had,” Damien Green, Sinclair-Green’s 20-year-old son, told television reporters that evening. “I want everyone to feel my pain and understand that this is real life. It’s not a game.”

Green shared that his mother recently survived a 10-year battle with lymphoma and also has lupus.

An autopsy Wednesday determined Sinclair-Green died of multiple gunshot wounds and considered her death a homicide, officials said. Williams died from a single gunshot wound to the head, officials said.
