Robbery: 2 robbers arrested after chase and shootout | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 31-year-old culprit and his accomplice were arrested by task force investigators on Sunday in connection with a robbery near Secunderabad Railway Station on Wednesday night. According to task force investigators, Masood Ur Rahman and Fazal Ur Raheman snatched a mobile phone from a passerby on MG Road. When police tried to intercept them, the accused tried to attack them with daggers and as they fled on a scooter, one of the policemen fired at their two-wheeler, aiming at the wheel. “However, the bullet hit Rahman in the calf of his right leg but they managed to escape. Another bullet was fired at them but did not go off,” said S. Rashmi Perumal, DCP North Zone, Hyderabad. Special investigation teams identified and arrested the accused, who were remanded in judicial custody on Sunday. Investigators recovered the stolen scooter used in the crime, two daggers and a stolen mobile phone belonging to the accused. According to police, Rahman was previously involved in three property crimes, including a robbery in Mailardevpally. On June 19, Rahman visited his aunt’s house in Musheerabad. During the night, he sought help from his friend Fazal and they stole a scooter in Chaderghat. Later, they went in search of a victim on their scooter and hid the stolen vehicle at a remote location in Malakpet. From there, they drove to Secunderabad and spotted a person near the railway station at around 2:30 am on June 20. Fazal tried to snatch his mobile phone and when he resisted, they threatened him with daggers, robbed him and fled. When the victim raised an alarm, the anti-theft team, which was at the spot as a decoy, chased them, police said.
