The probability of rain increases

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – High pressure and dry air are once again bringing lower than normal precipitation chances and higher than normal temperatures. Highs today will be around 95 degrees Fahrenheit with a feel of 103 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Strong winds are once again blowing. The distance and difference between the high pressure to the northeast and the lower pressure to the southwest is large enough and close enough to create these gusty winds. We wake up to warnings for small boats in the area’s waters.

Although the chance of precipitation is a little higher today than yesterday, it is still lower than normal and much lower than over the weekend. The big question mark in the forecast comes this weekend. There is an area off the Atlantic coast where tropical development is possible. Should a system develop, its track will become important in the late weekend forecast. If it does not develop, we could still see a rapid increase in the moisture content of our air and a significantly higher chance of precipitation.

Heavy rains and gusty winds will move toward Mexico and southern Texas later today.
