County man sentenced in Carroll court for abusing his three daughters – Baltimore Sun

A county man has been found guilty in Carroll County District Court of numerous counts of sexual and physical abuse of his three young daughters, according to a press release from the county prosecutor’s office.

Following the conclusion of the four-day trial on June 14, the 58-year-old man was found guilty of two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, continuous sexual abuse, second-degree rape, third-degree sexual offense and three counts of first-degree continuous child abuse.

Carroll County District Judge Brian L. DeLeonardo has scheduled sentencing for October 21.

The man, a native of Bangladesh, is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center. He may also be deported through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s federal removal process, according to the press release. The Carroll County Times is not naming the man to protect the victims’ identities.

At trial, April Adams, an investigator with Carroll County Child Protective Services, testified that she received a referral for a report of sexual and physical abuse on April 21, 2023, the news release said. Adams went to the school where the three victims are enrolled to conduct a wellness check, and the eldest daughter provided information that sparked further investigation, the news release said.

On May 11, 2023, a forensic interview was conducted in which the girl stated that her father had sexually and physically abused her for the past six years; the younger sisters also described in detail how their father had physically abused them for years. The recorded interviews were presented at trial as evidence of the abuse.

The case was prosecuted by Lead District Attorney Connie Yarborough and investigated by Det. Valerie Mizansky of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office along with Adams of the Carroll County Department of Social Services.

“No matter what well-deserved sentence (the man) receives, these young girls will never regain their innocence,” Carroll County District Attorney Haven Shoemaker said in the press release.
