Man jailed for sexually abusing teenager in city hotel – Birkenhead News

A man has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenager in a hotel in Liverpool city centre.

Andrew Peel, 48, from Bradford, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday June 17 after being found guilty of sexual assault.

The incident occurred on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Premier Inn on Gower Street, when Peel sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl.

Peel was arrested and subsequently charged that same evening. Although he denied the crime, he was found guilty after a six-day trial in May this year.

Detective Constable Claire McDonald said: “Peel committed an horrific and reprehensible act of sexual assault on a teenage girl and now faces a lengthy prison sentence.

“He also prolonged his victim’s suffering by denying the crime and forcing her to relive her ordeal in a trial.

“I would like to thank her for showing such strength and determination during this extremely traumatic time and we hope that today’s sentence will give her some sense of justice as she continues her recovery.
