Four cases of rape were registered in Pune in one day

On June 11, four cases of rape were reported to various police stations in the city on a single day, raising fears for the safety of women.

In the first case, a 22-year-old woman from Narhe has filed a complaint with the airport police stating that Kamlesh Baliram Medhe, 24, a resident of Kalwas, raped her on the pretext of marriage and the incident took place between February 18, 2023 and June 11, 2024.

The accused even threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed everything. Proceedings under 376 (2) (N), 504 and 506 have been initiated against the accused, but he has not been arrested yet.

In the second case, a 36-year-old woman has filed a complaint against Ajit Bhimrao Vanve, a resident of Beed, for allegedly blackmailing and raping her in 2019. The accused even threatened to kill her son and abuse her young daughter, following which the Lonikand police booked IPC 376, 323 and 506 against the accused.

In the third case, a 15-year-old victim filed a complaint against a 19-year-old, whom she had befriended on social media. He took nude photos of her, later raped her and threatened to post the photos on social media if she told her family about the relationship. The police invoked IPC 376, 506 and Section 4 of the POCSO Act against the accused.

In the fourth case, a father has filed a complaint with Kondhwa police station against a 23-year-old youth for allegedly eloping with her daughter and having sexual intercourse with her several times at his sister’s residence in Vadodara in Gujarat from May 23, 2023, to the date of filing of FIR under IPC 363,376 and 366.
