Virtual bodybuilding trainer from Charlottesville guilty of sexual exploitation of minors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Charlottesville virtual bodybuilding trainer who sexually exploited at least six minors over the course of three years has pleaded guilty in federal court to child exploitation and child pornography. Elliott Atwell, 34, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Charlottesville to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography. According to court documents, between December 2013 and April 2020, Atwell manipulated at least six minors into recording themselves engaging in sexually explicit conduct and then sending him the recordings. To gain the victims’ trust and willingness to participate, Atwell sent them gifts, including a digital camera, sex toys, Viagra, lubricants and other items.

He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison, with a minimum of 15 years if sentenced at a date to be determined.
