One year ago today (June 8, 2023) … Los Angeles County intends to settle a lawsuit brought on behalf of an 18-year-old girl and her 16-year-old sister who were allegedly sexually abused by one of their foster parents between 2012 and 2014 by paying the plaintiffs $500,000 each.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court identifies only AR, the older sibling and CR as plaintiffs. The suit was filed on their behalf by their mother and accuses them of negligence, sexual abuse, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Attorneys for the district filed court papers with Judge Elaine Lu on Tuesday asking for approval of the agreement. Both plaintiffs were minors when the case was filed in April 2020.
