Decatur Police Announce Arrests in 2011 Murder Case

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) – Decatur police announced that the investigation into a 2011 murder has finally led to an arrest.

It was the morning of August 4, 2011, when two men attempted to rob 17-year-old Caleb Witty and his sister. The two were walking home from the now-closed Decatur Celebration on Johns Avenue, east of 22nd Street, when two men approached them and demanded money. Witty was shot during the altercation.


Decatur police officials did not provide further details in their press release and said there would be a press conference later in the day at 3 p.m.
