Spence Bridge project seeks to improve traffic flow

CINCINNATI — Reconnecting communities, improving traffic flow and safety are the main goals of the $3.6 billion Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project.

Organizers said they received more than 100 suggestions from the public over the past four months and revised part of the project based on community needs.

Adding a companion bridge and additional intersections are just some of the ways they hope to improve traffic flow and the safety of those using the bridge.

“We are able to extend the street network from downtown to the Queensgate area,” said Tommy Arnold, Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project Manager. “We are significantly increasing the number of bicycle and pedestrian facilities that accompany this street grid field. So, again, it’s really about addressing that issue, taking public feedback into account when designing the project.

Construction is expected to begin by 2026.
