Police sources identify father killed at gas station in West Little River

WEST LITTLE RIVER, Florida. – A Miami-Dade family mourned Sunday after a 53-year-old father was killed in his car at a Sunflex gas station in West Little River.

Local 10 News sources familiar with the case identified the man police found dead in a green 2005 Ford Interceptor Saturday afternoon as Edward Bernard Bailey of Overtown.

According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the shooting occurred around 12:35 p.m. and officers responded to Northwest 79th Street and 17th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Department officials pronounced Bailey dead at the gas station.

According to sources, there was surveillance video from the gas station that showed Bailey on the west side of the gas station when two men in a gray Volkswagen Tiguan parked behind him and one of them shot Bailey once. A .40 caliber shell casing was found at the scene.

Investigators asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
