Chicago Ridge Mall closes early after police call – NBC Chicago

Chicago Ridge Mall was abruptly closed Saturday night after a man pulled out a gun during an argument, prompting a large police response.

At around 5:45 p.m., Chicago Ridge Police received several calls reporting a person displaying a weapon at the mall on the corner of Ridgeland Avenue and 95th Street.

Videos posted on social media before 7 p.m. showed several police officers at the scene.

Security told NBC Chicago that the mall was closed for the rest of the day at the direction of police. According to Chicago Ridge police, a verbal altercation occurred at the south end of the mall during which a man pointed a firearm at the victim.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, according to police.
