Woman found dead in Stateville home

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) – A woman was found dead in her Statesville home Saturday morning. According to police.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Shelbie Smith.

Officials said they found her around 4 a.m. in the apartment on Hickory Avenue near Wilson Lee Boulevard.

Police said they were called to the home because a death had been reported. When they arrived, they found Smith dead.

The investigation into the circumstances of her death is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Statesville Police.
