SHO, 3 police officers suspended

MANSEHRA: District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur on Friday suspended the SHO and three other personnel of Battal police station for their alleged links with drug peddlers and timber smugglers.

“I have suspended an SHO, his assistant, the gunner and the driver for their involvement in corruption and links with timber smugglers and drug peddlers,” he told reporters. The DPO said SHO Battal police station Ijaz Ahmad, head constable Mohammad Ayaz and constables Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Khursheed were suspended and barred from police service after a preliminary investigation found their links with drug peddlers and timber mafia.

“Complaints lodged with me against these suspended officers revealed that they were receiving rewards for escorting drug and timber smugglers across the Karakoram Highway in the jurisdiction of Battle police station,” he added. Gandapur said he had constituted an investigation team led by Superintendent of Police Oghi Nazir Khan to investigate the suspended officers.
