Off-duty LAPD officer injured, another driver shot in Ontario – NBC Los Angeles

An investigation is underway in Ontario after an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer was injured and another motorist was killed by gunfire on Thursday evening.

According to Ontario police, officers responded to a shooting around 8:30 p.m. on Euclid Avenue and 6th Street, directly on the A10 motorway.

Investigators believe preliminary information indicates an altercation occurred between two men, one of whom was an off-duty LAPD officer. Authorities said it is unclear who fired first.

“Many people have called and we are currently questioning them. I cannot say exactly how it happened or what the motive was for the shooting,” said police corporal Eliseo Guerrero of the Ontario Police Department.

The off-duty officer is reportedly doing well. No details of the officer’s injuries have been released.

The other person was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

This is an evolving story.
