ALARM DAY: Tornado warning until 11 p.m.

BALTIMORE – A tornado warning has been issued for central and northeastern Maryland until 11 p.m. Severe storms are possible in the evening.

A tornado warning was issued for Carroll, Howard, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Harford, Cecil and Anne Arundel Counties until 11:00 p.m.:

So far, widespread clouds, showers and thunderstorms have limited our severe weather potential this Memorial Day.

There is some partial clearing in the area, meaning the threat of severe weather is not over yet. The greatest chance for a few more strong to severe thunderstorms is in central and northeast Maryland.

The main impacts of these storms would be heavy rain, lightning, hail and potentially damaging winds. There is still a slight rotation in the atmosphere so a stray tornado cannot be ruled out. Please keep an eye on the weather and use multiple ways to receive warnings.

Expect thunderstorms and clouds to clear overnight and humidity to drop, with lows dropping to 15 to 18 degrees at night.

Tuesday will start sunny, but it will become cloudy and there may be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Not all parts of the city will be wet. Maximum temperatures will be just over 27 degrees.

Wednesday is another day where we will have sunshine in the morning, followed by showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon could bring heavy downpours, gusty winds and small hail. Highs will be between 25 and 27 degrees.

Despite the disruption, Thursday looks breezy and pleasant with highs around 24 degrees. Isolated drizzle or showers are possible, but most places should remain dry. Friday and Saturday look dry, sunny and pleasant with highs around 24 to 25 degrees.

Right now, next week is looking pretty good. There could be a few scattered drizzles or showers on Sunday, but even if it rains, the showers will be very scattered and light. Outdoor plans are now possible for this week.
