An elderly man was found dead after a fire in Brooklyn. Authorities say the blaze was deliberately set. The incident comes after a deadly night in the Big Apple during which two other incidents left two people dead and five injured.

The body of the 70-year-old victim was discovered in a bedroom at 371 Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 11:15 p.m. Friday, and a 65-year-old woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital with smoke inhalation, police said.

The cause of death will be determined by the city’s medical examiner, but the New York City FDNY fire marshal believes the fire was deliberately set.
