Lake Worth Beach man is charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Florida

A Lake Worth Beach man was arrested Saturday and charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. 20-year-old Marvin Perez Lopez is charged with kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor. “He held an 11-year-old girl against her will and sexually assaulted her,” said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. “This is a capital crime.” According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the county clerk’s office, the attack occurred last Thursday near Perez Lopez’s home on South K Street in Lake Worth Beach. It became clear to me that she may have been in Perez Lopez’s van was located. “She banged on the van and asked what they were doing. “The man ran out of the van and ran away,” the affidavit states. The affidavit states that investigators interviewed the victim and told them that Perez Lopez forced her. “He grabbed her hand and said, ‘Get in the van.’ He started touching her and she didn’t like it,” the affidavit states. The affidavit said Perez Lopez went to the girl’s mother later that night to apologize and ask for forgiveness. Instead she called the police. The sheriff’s office said Perez Lopez is from Guatemala and crossed the border from Mexico in January. They said he surrendered to the Border Patrol, was given a court date in 2027 and was released. “He will be charged with a capital offense before he even remotely believes he will be deported,” Bradshaw said. “He will serve time here first.” Perez Lopez is currently being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail. “He held an 11-year-old girl against her will and sexually abused her,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said. “This is a capital crime.”

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the county clerk’s office, the attack occurred last Thursday near Perez Lopez’s home on South K Street in Lake Worth Beach.

The affidavit states that the girl’s mother noticed her daughter was missing and realized she may have been in Perez Lopez’s van.

“She banged on the van and asked what they were doing. “The man ran out of the van and fled,” the affidavit states.

The affidavit states that investigators interviewed the victim and told them that Perez Lopez forced her.

“He grabbed her hand and said, ‘Get in the van.’ He started touching her and she didn’t like it,” the affidavit states.

The affidavit states that Perez Lopez went to the girl’s mother later that evening to apologize and ask for forgiveness.

Instead she called the police.

The sheriff’s office said Perez Lopez is from Guatemala and crossed the border from Mexico in January.

They said he turned himself in to Border Patrol, was given a court date in 2027 and was released.

“He’s accused of a capital crime before he even remotely believes he’s going to be deported,” Bradshaw said. “He’ll take his time here first.”

Perez Lopez is currently being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail.
