Man arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his wife’s dog

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in Charleston arrested a man Thursday for allegedly killing his wife’s dog.

Christopher James York, 38, was charged with mistreatment of animals.

Authorities responded to a call Monday saying her husband had shot their English bulldog. She said her husband killed the dog because he was allergic to it and didn’t want it anymore, police said.

The woman heard a bang in the house and then her husband said to her, “Your dog is dead; I just shot him.” The woman then went outside and saw her dog lying dead on the porch from a gunshot wound.

York is awaiting a bond hearing at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
