Driver arrested after crashing vehicle into utility pole on Garfield Avenue.

DULUTH, Minn. — A driver is facing serious charges after Duluth police say he crashed into a utility pole and a vehicle.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Garfield Avenue.

The Blatnik Bridge and Garfield Avenue were closed until Minnesota Power could stabilize power lines and install a new utility pole.

Police said the 36-year-old driver was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of an open container, driving with a revoked license and criminal operation of a vehicle.

Two people in the other vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries.
