According to police, a 20-year-old woman was shot while walking in Long Beach

A 20-year-old woman was shot while walking in a north Long Beach neighborhood Saturday evening, according to a preliminary police report.

According to a news release, Long Beach police responded to the area of ​​Paramount Boulevard and 57th Street shortly after 10 p.m. after hearing reports of shots fired and a suspect fleeing the area.

Officers determined that the victim, Long Beach resident Brooklyn Mack, had been shot multiple times.

They tried to save their lives with medical help. The Long Beach Fire Department also came to help, but Mack died at the scene.

A suspect is believed to have fled before officers arrived, police said.

It remains unclear what the suspect’s motive was.
