Delaware State Police arrest a man on attempted murder charges

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a shooting on October 8, 2023.

The suspect, identified as Lewis M. Cameron, was extradited from Maryland to Delaware Troop 5 on May 10. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Cameron was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and sent to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1.2 million cash bail.

On October 8 at 6 p.m., troopers responded to a call of a shooting near the 31000 block of Maple Court in Lewes. Upon arrival, they found a 29-year-old Millsboro man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Through investigation, investigators were able to identify Cameron as the suspect in the shooting.
