Man charged with raping disabled woman in Marklund home

Isaiah S. Fields

A man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing and impregnating a disabled resident at the Marklund Hyde Center.

The Kane County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday evening that Isaiah Fields, 22, of the 5000 block of West Maple Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Friday.

Fields is charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and aggravated assault.

Authorities allege that from August 1 to September 5, 2023, Fields sexually assaulted the victim, who he knew had a severe or severe mental disability and was incapable of giving consent.

In early April, it was discovered that the woman was almost fully pregnant. Shortly afterwards she gave birth to a child. The woman had a physical disability that may have obscured her pregnancy, Marklund officials said in a news release in April.

Prosecutors have asked that Fields be remanded in custody. According to Kane County court records, a detention hearing is scheduled for Sunday morning.
