Another woman accuses Prajwal of repeated rape and files a lawsuit | India News

BENGALURU: Another woman has accused Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna of raping her and has lodged a complaint in this regard with the cybercrime police station of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to sources in the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the sexual assault allegations against the MP, the woman has alleged that Prajwal raped her repeatedly. The complainant was featured in one of the sleaze videos allegedly involving the MP.

A case has been registered under IPC sections 376 (2) (n) – (repeated rape of the same woman) and 376 (2) (k) – (being in a position of control/dominance over a woman, committing rape) one such woman), 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 B (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to undress), 354 C (voyeurism), 506 (criminal intimidation) and under the Information Technology Act.

SIT officials, however, refused to reveal details about the complainant such as her age and profession. “Protecting the identity of victims is of utmost importance to us. We cannot say anything about the victim,” a senior official said.

This is the second rape case against Prajwal Revanna, who fled the country. Earlier, a local officer had filed a rape case against him with the criminal investigation department. Another woman, who worked as a domestic help in the MP’s household, had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against the MP and his MLA father HD Revanna at the Holenarasipura city police station.

A youth from Mysuru district has also complained that his mother was kidnapped on the instructions of MLA Revanna, who has since been arrested in the case.

On Friday, SIT officials took one of the victims to HD Revanna’s residence in Basavanagudi for mahazar (sting check). The victim had complained to the police that she was raped at the Basavanagudi house. This is the second spot check of the victim at Basavanagudi House.

The SIT on Friday issued notices to Karthik, a former driver of Revanna’s family, and BJP functionary and lawyer Devaraje Gowda. SIT officials have asked Karthik and Devaraje Gowda to appear before the investigating officer within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

On April 23, a complaint was lodged at the Hassan CEN Criminal Investigation Station regarding sharing of objectionable videos on a USB drive, based on a complaint by a JD(S)-BJP election agent. The case was registered against Naveen Gowda and others under the IT Act.

The SIT has taken the case seriously as the faces of the victims were exposed without being blurred or hidden.
