Police issue warning after multiple thefts along Delaware Trail – NBC10 Philadelphia

Police in New Castle County, Delaware, are warning users of a popular recreational hiking trail to be cautious after several thefts and attempted thefts have occurred along the trail.

According to police, the incidents occurred along the Jack A. Markell Trail.

NBC10 spoke to a man who said suspects tried to chase him while he was riding his bike near Route 13 last month.

“They said, ‘Give me the damn bike.’ And I said, ‘You’re not getting my bike,'” David Munion said. “So I just kept pedaling. He ran right down the trail behind me and came all the way down. I could have gone a little further into my backyard, but I didn’t want him to know where I lived.”

Munion said he managed to escape and call police.

“I’m tired of traveling now because when I see someone on the road, I hesitate a little,” Munion added.

New Castle County Police advise trail users to travel with a partner, keep valuables out of sight, and call 911 immediately if they notice anything unusual.
