Charlotte Muder’s suspect was arrested by the FBI near Washington DC

A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in east Charlotte last month has been arrested by the FBI in northern Virginia, CMPD said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in east Charlotte in April was arrested in Virginia and is expected to be extradited to North Carolina, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Justin Carache-Soto, 21, was found dead April 12 at a home on Upas Lane, just off Albemarle Road near Waverly Lake. The case was initially considered a death investigation, but investigators later determined Carache-Soto’s death to be a homicide.

The FBI arrested a man in connection with the May 9 shooting in Northern Virginia. The suspect, 23-year-old Alejandro Jose Sequeira, has been charged with murder. CMPD homicide detectives are scheduled to interview Sequeira in Alexandria, Virginia. According to CMPD, extradition to North Carolina is pending.

According to CMPD, the investigation remains active. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses can also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
