Atwater Police Chief Michael Salvador announced his retirement after 37 years of service.

Fresno Police Lieutenant says goodbye for the last time after 37 years

According to Atwater PD, Salvador will retire on December 18th.

According to Atwater PD, Salvador has a long list of accomplishments throughout his career, including serving as an instructor for the West Point/LAPD Leadership Course, serving on the California Police Chiefs Association Legislative Committee, and serving as Public Safety Region 5 Chair.

They say Police Chief Salvador oversaw the remodeling of the Atwater Police Department as well as projects to introduce electric vehicles and charging stations.

Previously, he served as chairman of the Madera Unified School District Board of Trustees and as a high school basketball and water polo referee.

In response to Salvador’s resignation, Atwater Mayor Mike Nelson said the following about Salvador.

In a statement, Salvador said the following about his impending resignation.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and work with such dedicated professionals.

It has been an honor to protect and serve the residents of Atwater.

I am confident that the Department will continue to maintain the highest standards of integrity and service.
