One dead and six injured in fatal shooting in New York park

New Delhi, July 29: One person was killed and six others injured in a mass shooting at a park in Rochester, New York, local media reported Monday. Rochester police said one of the dead was 20 years old, another was in critical condition and five others were hospitalized with minor injuries. Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department told reporters at a press conference that police rushed to Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting during a large gathering of people. They found several people with gunshot wounds.

Police said some people were taken to the hospital in private vehicles during the night, while others were taken by ambulance. “At this point, we don’t know how many people were shooting. We’re trying to interview as many witnesses as possible,” Greg Bello said, according to local media. The identity of the victim who was shot has not yet been released. Several police agencies were at the park, including Irondequoit police, Monroe County sheriffs, Rochester police and New York State police.
