Rodrigo Neri gives Atlanta United the world championship title 2-1 against Huntsville City FC

Atlanta United 2 beat Huntsville City FC 2-1 on Saturday night at Joe Davis Stadium thanks to Rodrigo Neri’s second-half double, his first goal for the club. Defender Matt Edwards and midfielder Tyler Wolff each contributed to the team’s second away win of the season.

Atlanta had a few chances in a quiet first half for both teams. In the 11th minute, midfielder Nick Firmino fired a long-range shot that curled into the top right corner, but Huntsville goalkeeper Bryan Dowd dove to keep the score at 0-0. In the 31st minute, Firmino had another chance to break through after a cross from Javier Armas on a free kick. After the ball slammed into the box, the Brazilian stepped in front of the ball to turn and shoot, but the ball was caught by Dowd.

Atlanta United wasted no time in getting the second half underway. In the 47th minute, Wolff carried the ball down the left wing before squaring off with his defender to slide a pass into the box for Neri, who sent it over the keeper and into the roof of the net for his first goal as an Atlanta United 2.
