According to reports, the 25-year-old woman was attacked in the French capital at around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Local media reports that after the incident, the victim sought refuge in a kebab shop located just a few meters from the Moulin Rouge on Boulevard de Clinchy in the city’s 18th arrondissement.

She was later taken to Bichat Hospital by paramedics who came to her aid.

The incident was also reported on the Australian broadcaster 7News. According to several French media reports, reporter Ash Mullany said that the woman “went in with her dress inside out and it was allegedly torn,” Mullany said.

“She told police she had been raped by five men. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was given a medical examination.

“It is alleged that this happened over the weekend in the early hours of Saturday morning.”

According to the report, the woman, who had planned to return to Australia, is now staying in Paris to assist police with their investigation.

Several officials are currently working on this investigation,” the report continued.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a statement to 7NEWS.com.au saying it was prepared to provide consular assistance to the victim.

“The Australian Embassy in Paris is making urgent enquiries to the French authorities following reports of an attack on an Australian citizen in Paris,” a spokesman said.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade stands ready to provide consular assistance.”

Other reports indicate that the woman told police that after the alleged attack, she was forced to flee to a kebab shop wearing a torn dress and holding her underwear.

She also claimed that her phone had been stolen.

After seeking refuge in the Dounia kebab shop on Boulevard de Clichy, near the legendary Moulin Rouge cabaret theater, the alleged victim was admitted to Bichat Hospital “disoriented and unable to speak a word of French,” according to other media reports.

The woman was reportedly in Paris for the Fête de Musique music festival, but remains in the city as Paris prosecutors have launched an investigation into the woman’s statements and begun reviewing video surveillance in the area.

A statement said: “The investigation into the charge of gang rape, which is believed to have taken place on the night of July 19-20, has been entrusted to the Second Criminal Investigation District.”

The Alliance Paris Police union added that investigators “will do everything possible to quickly identify the individuals and bring them to justice.”

Ahead of the Olympic Games, which begin on Friday, security measures in Paris are being stepped up with more than 60,000 police officers and soldiers, drones, helicopters and a massive increase in AI surveillance.

Fighter jets, AWACS surveillance flights, Reaper surveillance drones and helicopters carrying high-level snipers will patrol the skies over Paris in France’s largest troop deployment since World War II.

Numerous security concerns were raised in the French capital after ISIS threatened to attack the Olympic Games.

The terrorist organization released a propaganda poster in which one of its terrorists appears to be flying an “armed drone” to attack the famous Eiffel Tower.

In the run-up to the Games, officials have already made a number of arrests. A 26-year-old was arrested for allegedly planning “violent actions.” A 16-year-old was also arrested for allegedly saying he wanted to “die as a martyr.”
