IndyCar racing driver Santino Ferrucci appeared to be unharmed after His car was thrown through the air in a six-car accident in Toronto.

With 13 laps to go, Ferrucci’s car was catapulted over Pato O’Ward’s. On the restart, O’Ward hit the outside wall, followed by a horde of other cars.

When O’Ward had a problem after a corner, many of his competitors were unable to slow down and Pietro Fiitipaldi collided with the Mexican, with Ferrucci following shortly after.

The 26-year-old American’s car hit the safety barrier, scraped along it and then rolled over on the track again. The cars remained scattered across the asphalt and the race was stopped.

Ferrucci radioed that he was unhurt and signaled to the crowd that he was OK by getting out of his vehicle and waving at them. Marcus Ericsson, Toby Sowery and Nolan Siegal were also involved in the accident, but after the red flag was raised, no serious injuries were apparently reported.

An observer, whose job it is to alert drivers to dangers on the track, apologized and admitted that he could not see that section of the track. He had been at the hotel’s lookout point.

There was a 20-minute delay before another race caution was issued. Scott McLaughlin was hit with his hip and thrown into the wall. The race was restarted with five laps to go.
