One dead after semi-trailer accident in Orangeburg County

The accident occurred at 6:10 p.m. Monday on I-26 westbound, about eight miles north of Orangeburg.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC — One person was killed in a car crash on I-26 in Orangeburg County on Monday.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, the accident occurred at 6:10 p.m. Monday on westbound I-26 at mile marker 148, about eight miles north of Orangeburg.

According to police, the driver of a 2013 Freightliner semi-trailer truck was traveling west on I-26 when the vehicle left the right side of the road and struck a tree.

According to police, the driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
