Teenager from Sioux Center killed, teenager from Sheldon seriously injured in accident in Lake Park

Lake Park, Iowa – A Sioux Center teenager was killed and a Sheldon teenager was seriously injured following a crash near Lake Park on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that 18-year-old Teagan Vos of Sheldon was driving a 2019 Kia northbound on M27, about a half-mile south of Lake Park, at around 10:10 p.m. They tell us that

The report states that Vos failed to negotiate a curve on the road to the northeast, crossed the center line and entered the northwest ditch. Vos lost control and her Kia rolled over. The car continued north, crossed 131st Avenue and ended up in the north ditch of 131st Avenue.

One of the car passengers, 19-year-old Edith Lupercio-Lopez of Sioux Center, died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance took Vos to Lakes Regional Healthcare Spirit Lake Hospital.

The trooper said the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Park emergency personnel assisted in responding to the accident.
