Two-car accident in Montgomery County classified as “mass casualty incident”

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland (DC News Now) — An accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in Montgomery County has been declared a “mass casualty incident,” according to officials with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Shortly before 2 p.m., in a Post created on XPete Piringer, a spokesman for MCFRS, said emergency crews were on Route 355 at Frederick Road and Shakespeare Boulevard in Germantown when a collision occurred between two cars.

Six people were injured, Piringer said.

Because at least six people were injured, the incident was declared a mass casualty accident, Piringer explained. None of the injuries were classified as life-threatening, but some were seriously injured.
