19-year-old British tourist “raped in Lisbon nightclub by bar employee who forced himself on her in the back room”

A British tourist was allegedly raped by an employee in a nightclub in Lisbon.

The 19-year-old woman was on holiday in Portugal when she said she was attacked by a club employee in the back room of the dance club “Urban Beach”.

The unnamed employee claims that the sex was consensual.

The local police have launched an investigation and the club bosses are also looking into the incident.

Friends of the British teenager are said to have called the police at around 5 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The holidaymaker was then taken to the Sao Jose Hospital in Lisbon to be examined by a specialist.

A spokeswoman for the PJ police confirmed this morning: “We are investigating an alleged rape in a nightclub in Lisbon.”

A well-informed source said: “The alleged rape victim is a 19-year-old British woman who was apparently on holiday in Portugal.”

Paulo Damaso, the nightclub’s manager, told Portuguese news channel Correio da Manha: “We have already launched an internal investigation and as part of this investigation the employee in question will be questioned.

“He claims that the sexual relationship with the plaintiff was consensual.

“Whether that is the case or not, we deny that such incidents have occurred in our facilities.”

Urban Beach describes itself online as “Lisbon’s hottest nightclub where the party never stops.”

Partygoers are encouraged to “prepare for a night of energetic beats and epic DJ sets that will have you dancing all night long.”

Just last month, a 16-year-old British girl was raped in Crete when she left her parents to use a bar toilet.

The police immediately launched a manhunt for the suspect, a 28-year-old man.

The young Briton reported the rape to local police and said the perpetrator disappeared after the attack.

After reviewing video surveillance footage from the bar and other bars in the area, police were able to identify the man.
