Houston 4th of July Celebration: Everything You Need to Know Ahead of Shell Freedom Over Texas 2024 at Eleanor Tinsley Park

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Shell Freedom Over Texas, Houston’s annual Fourth of July celebration, is just around the corner! Here’s everything you need to know.

Details

  • The festivities will begin at 4 p.m., the concert will start at 7 p.m. and the celebration will end with a fireworks display around 9:35 p.m.

Tickets

Visitors can purchase tickets for $10 online or at the door. Admission is free for children under 5.

Car park

Event parking is available for a fee in the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts parking lot located at 800 Bagby Street. Guests must enter the lot on Rusk Street between Houston Avenue and Bagby Street.

Additional event parking is also available in the Theater District parking garages with access on Rusk Street between Bagby and Smith Streets.

Street closures

Event organizers are busy preparing Eleanor Tinsley Park.

Starting Tuesday, I-45 exit ramps in both directions of Allen Parkway will be closed. Roads between Bagby Street and Taft Street will also be closed, then reopen Friday morning.

Work on the main stage began last week and will continue until the start of the show.

Things to know before you go

Participants should keep in mind that it will be hot. Organizers want you to be prepared.

No coolers are allowed, but water will be available free of charge.

“Make sure you drink enough. We have water on site that you can use for free,” said Susan Christian, director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. “Don’t bring your igloos or food, unless it’s for special needs or babies.”

Participants may bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas.

How to watch from home

This year’s headliner is country-pop artist Russell Dickerson, along with performances by Jo Dee Messina and Chapel Hart.
