One dead and one injured in Wheatfield Township

LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – A woman was killed and a male passenger was injured in an overnight traffic crash in Wheatfield Township near Williamston, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, the accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Monday on Zimmer Road between the I-96 overpass and Linn Road in Ingham County.

Investigators believe the driver, a 56-year-old woman, may have been suffering from an illness that caused her to veer off the road and crash into a tree. The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was seriously injured.

Investigators also say that the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The names of the two crash victims have not been released, but both are from Wheatfield Township, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash is still under investigation.
